This can be the busiest time of the year for many of us,
but there is one thing you want to make sure you don’t overlook in the midst of the holiday rush. If you have a Flexible Spending Account, now is the time to check its balance and talk to your benefits department. If there is money still available it needs to be used – fast.
A Flexible Spending Account (FSA) is provided by many employers and is a special benefit that allows you to set aside savings for certain out-of-pocket medical expenses. FSA money cannot be used on insurance premiums but you can put it towards many other uses. Each year, you can put up to $2,550 into this account. Generally, this is an annual arrangement, meaning that the money often won’t roll over if you have not used it for medical expenses by the end of December.
Money that isn’t used by the end of the year simply disappears. That’s why Dr. Gabhart’s office wants to make sure you are taking full advantage of the benefit while you can.
If you haven’t had a recent cleaning or check-up, now is the time to do it!
